Your Logs

Explained

This page explains what live hours are, the three types of hours you’ll log, and how to record time correctly during your diploma.

What Are Live Hours?

Live hours are any hours you spend in real-time learning, contact, or coaching during your diploma. These are logged to demonstrate your active participation and practical experience. Live hours fall into three distinct categories, and it’s important to log each activity under the correct type.

The 3 Types of Live Hours You’ll Log

Live Contact Hours

These are hours where you are live and present with the HCA team or other students, but not actively coaching.

Examples include

  • Welcome webinar

  • Orientation sessions

  • Tech Q&A sessions

  • Pillar orientation sessions

  • Core mentor sessions (non-coaching elements)

  • 1-Day Special Online Events

  • 3-Day Live Health Coaching Events

  • Coaching clinics (non-coaching segments)

  • Coach, Connect & Support sessions (non-coaching segments)

These hours reflect your attendance, learning, and engagement.

Examples include

  • Coaching practice during Mentor sessions

  • TRIPOD coaching

  • Coaching clinics (coaching time only)

  • Coach, Connect & Support sessions (coaching time only)

  • Coaching practice during 1-day and 3-day live events

These hours reflect your attendance, learning, and engagement.

Volunteer Coaching Hours

These are coaching hours completed with volunteers as part of your course requirements or additional coaching you choose to do during your diploma.

Examples include

  • Pillar 1 recorded coaching session

  • Pillar 3 volunteer coaching sessions

  • Pillar 4 case study coaching sessions

  • Any additional coaching you do outside of the course during your diploma

These hours demonstrate your real-world coaching experience

How to Log Time Correctly

Some sessions include more than one type of live hour.

For example

During a CORE Mentor session, you may:

- Log Live Contact Hours for the teaching and discussion time

- Log HCA Coaching Hours for coaching practice in breakout rooms

Your Mentor will:

Clearly explain how the session is structured

Tell you how many minutes can be logged under each category

Always follow your Mentor’s guidance when logging mixed sessions.

Key Reminders

  • Log hours as accurately as possible

  • Only log coaching time as coaching hours

  • When in doubt, ask your Mentor or the HCA team for clarification

Accurate logs help ensure your progress is tracked correctly and that you meet diploma requirements with confidence. If you have any questions about logging your hours, please contact the HCA team or raise it in your next Mentor session.
