Welcome to

This syllabus outlines the full curriculum for the HCA Level 5 Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching, which is built around four core pillars - Foundations of Coaching, Foundations of Health & Wellness, Health Coaching in Action, and Becoming a Health Coach.

 

If you are joining the Coaching Certificate, your study focuses specifically on Pillar 1: Foundations of Coaching. At the end of the Certificate you have the option to upgrade to the full Diploma to give you complete training in coaching skills, health, nutrition and wellness knowledge, practical coaching experience, and professional practice preparation.

The Four Pillars of Our Health Coaching Diploma

Our curriculum is structured around four key Pillars, each designed to develop your expertise and confidence as a Health and Nutrition Coach:

PILLAR 1 : FOUNDATIONS OF COACHING

PILLAR 2 : FOUNDATIONS OF HEALTH & WELLNESS

PILLAR 3 : HEALTH COACHING IN ACTION

PILLAR 4 : BECOMING A HEALTH COACH

These Pillars ensure you gain in-depth knowledge of nutrition courses alongside professional coaching techniques, preparing you for accreditation and a successful career in health coaching.

Pillar 1: Foundations of Coaching

In Pillar 1, we focus on essential coaching skills needed to become a confident and competent Health Coach.

  • Master core coaching competencies such as coaching models, active listening, rapport and how to coach different personality types & learning styles

  • Do the work on yourself - examine your own limiting beliefs, motivators, personality type, learning style, and more.

  • Put your learning into practice and refine your coaching skills with peers during our weekly group mentor sessions.

  • Understand your scope of practice as a Health Coach.

  • Know how to run successful discovery calls, manage client agreements, and set clear coaching boundaries.

Pillar 2: Foundations of Health & Wellness

Our second Pillar delivers the essential nutrition knowledge found in the best nutrition courses, ensuring you develop a strong foundation to support clients effectively.

  • Explore key nutrition principles including macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, antinutrients).

  • Learn about blood sugar balancing, with practical guidelines and create your own blood sugar balancing meal plan.

  • Discover optimal nutrition across different life stages and understand how a Nutrition Coach can support clients in making sustainable dietary changes.

  • Debunk common nutrition myths, examine government dietary guidelines, and compare popular diets.

  • Understand the importance of intermittent fasting, gut health and lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, and stress on overall wellbeing.

  • Gain a Functional Medicine perspective on different body systems equipping you with valuable insights needed to provide holistic health coaching.

Pillar 3: Health & Wellness Coaching in Action

This stage of the course is where you put theory into practice, applying your nutrition and coaching knowledge to real-world scenarios.

  • Implement the 7-Step Process of Change to help clients achieve lasting health improvements.

  • Gain hands-on experience by coaching a volunteer client over an 8-week period- witnessing firsthand the positive impact of your coaching

  • Learn how to use coaching frameworks and tools to guide clients through their health journeys effectively.

Pillar 4: Becoming a Health & Wellness Coach

The fourth and final part of the course is dedicated to setting you up for success as a professional Health Coach and building a practice you love

  • In the final stage, you’ll learn how to establish yourself as a professional Health & Wellness Coach, building a thriving coaching practice.

  • Work with volunteer case studies, delivering structured 4- and 6-week health coaching programs.

  • Develop your Essential Launch Plan, which provides the blueprint for setting up a successful coaching business.

  • Learn how to identify your ideal clients, create impactful coaching programs, and confidently conduct discovery calls to grow your practice.
